I am honored and pleased to know that the new President of Somaliland, Mudane Dr. Abdirahman Abdillahi Ciro, has hosted both former President Mudane Muse Bihi—who gracefully and peacefully handed over the office of the presidency to him after the recent democratic elections in Somaliland—and former President Mudane Dahir Riyale Kahin. This historic meeting symbolizes the unity, stability, and democratic maturity of Somaliland.
Moreover, within just 100 days in office, President Ciro has already taken decisive and tangible actions to fulfill his campaign promises—working tirelessly to unify the people, foster social and economic progress, and promote reconciliation and peace, particularly in the eastern regions of Somaliland. He has also accelerated diplomatic engagement as part of his presidential campaign, actively advocating for Somaliland’s international recognition. His recent high-level invitation to Dubai, UAE, where he participated in the World Governments Summit, stands as a testament to his commitment to showcasing Somaliland’s emerging democracy on the global stage. His efforts have already sparked intensified debates and legislative motions in the Swedish Parliament, the UK Parliament, and the United States Congress, bringing Somaliland’s recognition closer to reality.
President Ciro’s leadership marks a new chapter of hope and progress for Somaliland. His dedication to unity, peace, development, and international recognition is commendable and deserves the full support of all citizens. Now is the time for the people of Somaliland to rally behind their leader and actively contribute to the much-needed changes he is implementing for the good of all.
